Pint of Science 2019

Pint of Science is an annual festival that takes place over three evenings in multiple cities around the world.

The aim is to present fun, interesting and relevant talks and activities based on the latest science research in an accessible format to the public, in a pub setting. For that, researchers prepare fun and engaging talks and demonstrations aimed at a non-specialist, general public audience and based on their real research. 

In Sheffield, topics like Have we got time to waste?, Sound and vision and The future of healthcare, among others, will be represented.

Agri-activism volunteer (Wales)

One position for Agri-Activism activities in Wales between 17th July and 9th October 2017.

Agri-Activism placement is a great opportunity to learn all about sustainable and community agriculture, meet other activists and visit beautiful coastline of Wales.

Travel, accommodation and food costs costs will be covered by Friends of the Earth Europe throughout the placement.

Voluntariado Ambiental en el Río Henares Octubre

La Asociación de Ciencias Ambientales (ACA) organiza actividades de voluntariado ambiental totalmente gratuitas incluidas dentro del  Proyecto Río Henares* durante los próximos fines de semana de octubre. Si quieres ser uno de los más de 70 voluntarios con los que se contará, puedes obtener más información y/o inscribirte en www.riohenares.org
Las actividades incluyen análisis de calidad de las aguas y recogida ligera de residuos en la ribera del Henares.

         Domingo 13 de octubre: Guadalajara        
         Sábado 19 de octubre: Azuqueca de Henares     
         Domingo 20 de octubre: Jadraque

         Horario: de 9:30 a 14:30 
         Actividad a realizar: ruta guiada con explicaciones para aprender a interpretar el paisaje que nos rodea (hidrología, geomorfología, vegetación,fauna, especies invasoras del Henares, etc) y recogida somera de residuos en la ribera del río.

    * El Proyecto Río Henares se inició en el 2008 y desde entonces han participado más de 1000 voluntarios. La ACA vuelve este año a actuar en 9 términos municipales de la Cuenca del Henares: 4 de la Comunidad Autónoma de Castilla-La Mancha (Jadraque, Sigüenza, Guadalajara y Azuqueca de Henares) y 5 de la Comunidad Autónoma de Madrid (Los Santos de la Humosa, Alcalá de Henares, Torrejón de Ardoz, Mejorada del Campo y San Fernando de Henares).
    Las actuaciones (análisis físico-químicos, recogida de residuos…), como en años anteriores, se articulan sobre voluntarios que conocerán conceptos como la custodia del territorio, los principales impactos que sufren las cuencas hidrográficas como el provocado por las especies invasoras, el funcionamiento básico de los sistemas fluviales o los principios y valores del voluntariado, con el objetivo de que, al finalizar su participación, se conviertan también en embajadores de los valores del río Henares.

    El proyecto se enmarca dentro del Programa Playas, Voluntariado y Custodia 2013, promovido por la Fundación Biodiversidad, dependiente del Ministerio de Agricultura, Alimentación y Medio Ambiente.
