Postdoctoral Researcher – Environmental Sciences – Forest Modelling PostDoc Position (University of Freiburg · Biometry and Environmental System Analysis)
The ideal candidate has a PhD and a background that combines ecology or forest sciences with modeling and statistics. While not compulsory, prior experience with forest models (LPJ-GUESS), C/C++ programming, data analysis, Bayesian statistics and functional ecology will be a bonus. We search for a colleague with an appreciation of scientific rigor, a passion for research, and an excellent publication record.
Location and working place: Freiburg is a medium size university town in southern Germany. Computational Population Genetics & Viral Drug-Resistance Evolution PostDoc Position (École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne · School of Life Science, Switzerland, Lausanne)

The second will be centered around the study of viral drug-resistance evolution utilizing both experimental and clinical data, a long-term European Research Council (ERC) funded project. This new hire will work on both theory development related to extensions of Fisher’s Geometric Model, method development pertaining to the inference of the distribution of fitness effects, as well as the analysis of large-scale datasets from both Human Cytomegalovirus (HCMV) and influenza virus . The Jensen Lab is an active research group, with current postdocs and PhD students coming from backgrounds spanning biology, mathematics, and computer science. We are located in the School of Life Sciences at the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland, on the shores of Lake Geneva and at the base of the Alps. The working language of the lab is English.
Starting dates are flexible, and salaries are highly competitive (newly appointed postdocs begin at CHF 81,000 = EUR 66,000 = USD 92,000 / year). Both positions have available funding for three years, and contracts are renewed annually.
